American Airlines' pilots to contact National Mediation Board.

American Airlines' pilots will ask for federal mediation in contract talks with the airline.

The Allied Pilots Association, which represents the airline's pilots, is planning to ask the National Mediation Board

to intervene in contract negotiations with AMR Corp, the parent company of American Airlines, in an attempt to expedite the negotiations.

The two sides have reportedly been involved in negotiations since July 2001.

The union is also planning to launch picket lines at Chicago O'Hare International Airport, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Miami International Airport, LaGuardia International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, today (27 June).
