It has been reported that more Chinese air passengers are purchasing aviation accident insurance, following the crashes of two Chinese aircraft within the last two months. According to data from Beijing International Airport, more than 6,000 policies were purchased each day last week.

WestJet Airlines has announced that its temporary nonstop weekend service between Kelowna and Hamilton is now a permanent part of its schedule. The airline operates nonstop service from Hamilton to Kelowna on Saturdays, with a return service on Sundays. Fares start from CAD245.

Northwest Airlines has selected US Bank Home Mortgage as a partner in its WorldPerks Free Travel Programme. Under the partnership, WorldPerks members can earn 100 miles for every USD1,000 financed for home mortgages through US Bank Home Mortgage.

From 1 October 2002, Delta Connection will operate a daily jet service between Delta Air Lines' hub in Cincinnati and Atlantic City, N.J. Delta Connection carrier Comair will operate three daily nonstop round trip flights on the route, using Canadair regional jet (CRJ) aircraft. Tickets for the new service will be available from 30 May.

The former head of French airline Continent Air Paris is planning to launch a new low-cost airline, provisionally named Flyeco. The airline - expected to be operational by the end of the year - is forecasted to offer 13 short-haul routes, including flights between Beauvais and the south-east and south-west of France. Provincial flights and flights to Belgium are also planned, Les Echos reported.
