Aerolineas Argentinas has won its court battle to stop the airline company LAPA using the name ARG. However, the company will reportedly continue fighting for its brand and is planning to claim compensation from Aerolineas
On 8 May 2002, LanChile will launch services from five new west coast cities as part of its codeshare alliance with American Airlines. Passengers will be able to travel from San Jose, California; Phoenix, Arizona; Oakland, California; San Diego, California; and Las Vegas, Nevada through to LanChile's Los Angeles gateway. Travellers will also be able to connect to a variety of destinations throughout South America with just one ticket.
The first federal screeners have begun checking airline passengers at Baltimore-Washington International Airport. The 200 workers stationed at two concourses are the first of an estimated 30,000 passenger and baggage screeners who will be employed by the Transportation Security Administration by the end of November. The workers will be stationed at more than 420 US airports.
America West Airlines has launched an Internet fare sale for travel to four destinations in Florida - Orlando, Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Tampa. The reduced fares, available until 5 May 2002, must be purchased from the airline's web site, http://www.americawest.com. Travel must take place between 6 May and 24 August 2002. The tickets require a seven-day advance purchase and a one-night stay.
US Airways is offering sales fares on travel throughout its system during the summer season. The special fares require round trip travel in Coach Class and all travel must originate in the US. To qualify for the sale, tickets must be purchased at least 14 days before departure, with 24 hours of making the initial reservation and no later than 10 May 2002.
