Northwest Airlines flight lands at wrong airport by mistake.

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2004 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

A Northwest Airlines flight reportedly landed at Ellsworth Air Force Base by mistake on Saturday (19 June).

The Airbus A319 aircraft was scheduled to land at Rapid City Regional Airport, South Dakota, on a flight

from St. Paul, Minnesota. However, the flight landed a few kilometres off course at the Ellsworth Air Force Base, prompting officials at the base to interrogate the cabin crew, and leaving passengers waiting on board the aircraft for more than three hours.

The aircraft eventually made the short hop to the correct airport after the captain and first officer were replaced by a different crew.

The incident is currently being investigated, reported The Associated Press.
