SYOSSET - Natural Science Industries, the fast-growing West Hempstead maker of educational toys, has agreed to sublease more than 101,000 square feet at 225 Robbins Lane in Syosset, a warehouse and distribution center owned by Jericho-based Spiegel Associates.
The space, a 75 percent increase
The space is being sublet from New Breed Hauling, a North Carolina logistics firm that does work locally for the U.S. Postal Service, among others.
Officials at Natural Science did not return repeated phone calls. The firm currently employs about 75, sources said.
New Breed President Mike DeJoy said his firm is devoting an increasing amount of its attention to New Jersey, where it has recently boosted operations.
"We give up properties, when they are no longer necessary to meet demand," DeJoy said of the Syosset site.
Richard Cohen, president of Hauppauge-based Ashlind Properties, which represented New Breed in the sublease, said the postal services firm would consolidate its Long Island operations in the 300,000-square-foot lease the firm has in a Reckson Associates-owned building on Price Parkway in Farmingdale.
New Breed also leases 85,000 square feet of industrial, and warehouse space on Broadhollow Road in Melville.
