Kessel to be honored.

Richard M. Kessel, chairman and chief executive officer of the Long Island Power Authority, will be honored by UJA-Federation's Long Island real estate and allied trades division on Oct. 25. The dinner will take place at Carlyle on the Green in Bethpage State Park.

The Long Island real

estate and allied trades division is committed to helping UJA-Federation achieve its mission of helping and enhancing the lives of 4.5 million people each year -- New Yorkers of all ethnic and religious backgrounds and Jews all over the world.

"As a leader on Long Island, a committed Jew and a person with whom we all work closely, Richard Kessel is a well-deserving honoree and we are privileged to pay tribute to him," said division chair Benjamin Weinstock, of Ruskin Moscou Evans & Faltischek.

Simon Kaminetsky, regional director of UJA Federation on Long Island, reflected over recent events. "It may seem difficult in these heart-heavy days following the World Trade Center tragedy to think about spending a social evening together," he said. "But there is no greater way to thwart the terrorists' mission than to continue our sacred work."

Kaminetsky said that UJA-Federation has established a Terrorism Response Fund that will provide on-going services to those affected by the tragedy.
