Newmark offers seminar for attorneys on Negotiating the Modern Lease.

For the 10th consecutive year, Newmark & Company Real Estate, Inc. sponsored its sell-out seminar for attorneys entitled, "Master the Art of Negotiating the Modern Lease." Held October 29 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel and structured as a mock lease negotiation, the seminar presented a practical view of current trends in office lease negotiations, concentrating on the business implications of the lease documents. Parties representing both the tenant and landlord came together to focus on meaningful provisions and tricky clauses that, without deeper understanding, can lead to expensive mistakes for an office tenant.

The lively negotiations among the players covered topics such as fair market value provisions, including changes in rentable measurements; term extension options; tax efficient funding of tenant improvements; escalation formulas; casualty and space options and offer rights.
