The General Building Contractors of New York State announced the winning entries in its 13th annual Build New York Awards competition, which is held in honor of New York construction projects.
In the small to medium new construction category (under $15 million) the winner is David Christa Construction, Inc. for the operating room expansion at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y.
In the large new construction category (more than $15 million) the winner is Turner Construction Company for 222 E. 41st Street in New York City.
In the small renovation project (under $10 million) the winner is Northeast Construction Services, Inc. for the restoration of the Landmark Theatre in Syracuse, N.Y.
There are two winners in the large renovation project (more than $10 million) category: Cianbro Corporation for the Cannonsville Bridge Rehabilitation in Walton, N.Y. and Ciminelli-Cowper Co., Inc. for Olean General Hospital in Olean, N.Y.
There is an honorable mention award in the small-to-medium new construction category for Hueber-Breuer Construction Co., Inc. for the Post-Standard New Press Hall Addition in Syracuse, N.Y.
"Risk-taking constructors leading the way with excellent project management and good safety experience continue to provide owners with the quality project they seek," said Jeffrey J. Zogg, executive director of the GBC. "They are the key to success in today's thriving construction industry."
The Build New York award winners are selected based on outstanding managing skills, imagination, over-coming challenging and unusual circumstances, scheduling accomplishments, and project innovation. The awards will be presented at a gala awards event on Oct. 2 at the National Museum of Racing in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
