Here I am again with another article on the supermarket. It's the third installment of a five-part series. The first was published in the Hofstra Law Review in 2001' and the second in the last issue of this Journal2. This series focuses principally on what some insist is a simple question, what is a supermarket. Do you wonder why I need five articles to answer that question and believe that a five-year old could do a perfectly satisfactory job in a paragraph or less? When he was a five-year old, my son (now my collaborator and a real estate lawyer in his own right) thought he could define supermarket chain at least as well as I could.
