Holiday Travel Updates

Tuesday, July 3 2007

With the nation gearing up their grills for our midweek holiday, a record number of Americans — 41 million! — will be traveling at least 50 miles sometime this 4th of July. Moreover, because US Independence Day falls on a Wednesday this year, more Americans than ever are trying to make their holiday last three days or more.

With 34.7 million traveling by car and almost 5 million choosing air travel, it is important to be aware of the potential delays caused by all these travelers, vacationers, and party-goers.

Monday’s thwarted car bombings in Britain have also resulted in heightened security across the country. This is something else to keep in mind when planning out your travel by air or train.

And as always, be aware of your surroundings, and report any suspicious behavior to security or law enforcement.

Lastly, have fun!
