Some hotels simply have class. For me, a regular hotel visitor who looks beyond the gleaming marble, the really special hotel experiences come from the details.
During my last trip to
I appreciated the excellent service sure; I sighed with relief when I walked into my room and felt the firm mattress (I hate soft, bouncy beds); and I was grateful for the concierges who helped me navigate the challenging outings into the city.
However other hotels can offer such things. It was on my last day that I found the special touch that stays in my memory: lovely white pyjamas (yes they provide pj’s) folded on my bed for me to take – monogrammed in my initials!
I don’t know why but having been in a strange city for a week on business, such a personal touch let me walk out of there feeling special – and that is what a good hotel should help you feel (especially in Beijing)! www.shangri-la.com.
