How To Cut Your Costs

You wouldn’t drive your car in low gear on a highway would you? Of course not, it’s inefficient. But if you're using incandescent lightbulbs instead of flourescent bulbs you're also being inefficient.

On several recent trips I noted that many larger businesses, such as Courtyard By Marriott, have switched to compact fluorescent lighting (CFLs). But I also noticed that many small businesses have yet to switch. 

Phasing out your incandescent lighting, both inside and outside, will save you money on your electrical bill. If you haven’t investigated the different types of CFLs in the last year or so, take another look. They’re now available in many different types for both interior and exterior lighting.

They use less than one-fourth the amount of energy that an incandescent bulb uses.

What may be slowing you down is the initial expense. They are more expensive than the older bulbs but not only do they use less electricity, they last many times longer. Consider phasing them in and doing one room or area at time.

Bottom line: You’ll reduce your electricity costs to a fraction of what they are now.
