BE AWARE ABOUT CARS

Friday, November 10 2006

Latest on cars. No its not doom and gloom but some things to be aware of:
BE CALM: A recent study at Ben Gurion University in Israel showed that listening to music with a fast tempo can make drivers more than twice as likely to have an accident.

TOXIC CAR ODOURS: New cars emit high levels of toxic chemicals for up to six months, an Australian study has found. These can make you feel ill and it isn´t known whether they may cause longer-term problems. Dr Stephen Brown, principal research scientist at the Air Quality Unit, says: "We found that the pollutant levels the public are exposed to depend on how quickly the cars reach the market. For locally produced cars this may be a matter of weeks, while imports will have been sitting around for months (allowing the fumes to build up inside)."

INTERNATIONAL LICENCE: If you´re planning to drive abroad, don´t forget to obtain a certified International Driver´s Licence. Carry your national one as well just in case you get stopped and have to produce more documents.
