NFIB Small Business Summit

Monday, June 5 2006

Want your voice to be heard? The upcoming Small-Business Summit is a great opportunity for small-business owners to interact with elected officials and tell them what your needs really are. NFIB, the nation´s largest small-business group, invites small-business owners from across America to its fifth biennial National Small-Business Summit in Washington, D.C. June 18-20, where you can "Take It to the Hill."

Here's what you'll do:

  • Meet with your elected officials in Congress to urge support for crucial small-business legislation.
  • Learn how to strengthen the voice of small business, as small and independent business owners plan to once again hold candidates accountable in the 2006 congressional and state elections.
  • Attend workshops featuring issue experts and senior government officials.

"Our theme, "Take It to the Hill,´ highlights how we bring together several hundred of America´s most politically savvy entrepreneurs with the policymakers who are making key decisions affecting small business," said NFIB President Todd Stottlemyer. "For two days, decision-makers will see first-hand the importance of small business to America, and hear what Washington can do to support free enterprise. The Summit also will rally grassroots activists, inspiring them to go back to their communities and take up the cause of electing pro-small-business candidates."

Attendees will hear from keynote speakers including Meg Whitman, president and CEO of eBay, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, and David Gregory, chief White House correspondent for NBC News. Political pundits Charlie Cook and Stuart Rothenberg will present their views of the current political scene.
