Watch what they do. I'll admit I'm a tool collector. I love to get new tools that can make my company and clients' companies more productive, so I evaluate a lot of stuff.

And I see a ton of sales letters. Some of those letters make me want to whip out that credit card from the beginning. Others -- well my card never sees the light of day.

That's one way you can learn how to create a good sales letter. Next time you're tempted to buy something as a result of a sales letter (Oh, go ahead, you're worth it!), don't just purchase the item. Print out a copy of the sales letter and study it.

Identify exactly what it was about the letter that tugged at you to whip out the credit card. And do the same thing with soggy sales letters too. Figure out what it was that made you hesitate to buy. Take those nuggets of wisdom you discovered and apply them to your next sales letter. I guarantee you it will be better than the last one you wrote.

Do you have a tip for writing a winning sales letter? Tell me about it by leaving a comment.
