Flooding Mat Wins New Product Contest

A new generation flooding mat won the 2005 Exhibitor New Product Contest at the 26th Annual International Irrigation Show. Aquamatfrom Soleno Textiles Inc. eliminates

most runoff in nurseries, greenhouses, and garden centers. The mat consists of four layers: 1, an anti-rooting cover; 2, the evaporation block that separates the absorbent mat from the top layer to prevent surface evaporation; 3, a super-absorbent felt mat; and 4, a watertight plastic sheet that prevents water from seeping into the soil. Drip tapes are placed over the second layer at 2-foot intervals.

Irrigators Find Solutions In Phoenix

The 26th Annual International Irrigation Show in Phoenix was one of the biggest ever. Virtually all of the exhibit space sold out at the 220,000 square-foot exhibit hall, and more than 5000 exhibitors and attendees from around the world were present. The first Solution Center, a revamped presentation of the New Product Contest, and an active Center Stage were among highlights. The Technical Conference with the theme "Emerging Irrigation Technology" drew strong attendance, and the International Organization for Standardization irrigation equipment standards subcommittee met in conjunction with the IA show. Mark your calendar for the 2006 show in San Antonio Nov. 5-7, with irrigation classes and exams starting Nov. 2.
