The Oregon Chapter of the American Public Works Association presented its 2006 project of the year awards for water systems, transportation and wastewater at its fall conference in Pendleton.
The city of St. Helens won project of the year in the water systems category for the construction
Washington County's Phillip Harris Bridge replacement project won in the transportation category. The nine-month construction project was completed in seven months by primary consultant David Evans and Associates of Portland and general contractor Wildish Standard Paving Co. of Eugene.
The city of Portland won in the wastewater category for the West Side Combined Sewer Overflow project, which included an 18,000-foot- wide, 14-foot-diameter tunnel; 15,000 feet of 36- to 84-inch sewers; and a 220 million gallons per day pump station. The project was completed by the Portland Bureau of Environmental Services, engineering consultant Parsons Brinckerhoff, and joint-venture general contractor Impregilo-Healy.
