Uniondale lawyer appointed to land use committee of NY State Bar Assn.

John C. Armentano was appointed downstate co-chairman of the New York State Bar Association's Land Use, Planning and Environmental Law Committee.

Armentano is an associate in the Uniondale law firm of Ruskin Moscou Faltischek. He works in the firm's real estate and litigation departments

as well as the its environmental practice group.

The state committee deals with land use and environmental law as it is related to state land developments, brownfields redevelopment and the redevelopment of other contaminated sites. It works in concert with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

Armentano, who is also a member of the Bar Association's executive committee, will preside over committee meetings, will develop programs related to land use issues and will help organize the 2007 bar association's annual land use meeting.

Armentano was a municipal planner with the Nassau County Planning Commission before joining Ruskin Moscou. He also has served on the staff of the Nassau County Environmental Committee and the Open Space and Parks Advisory Committee.

In addition to that, Armentano previously presided over the Nassau County Soil and Water Conservation Committee, where he evaluated the open space issues and storm-water management.

He also was planning consultant for the Town of Southampton.
