Judy Jacobs serves as Presiding Officer of the Democratically-held Nassau County Legislature. Jacobs, who is in her fourth term as a legislator, won the last election with 80 percent of the vote and represents Legislative

District 16. She is chair of the Rules and Procedures Committee, vice chair of the Planning Committee, and a member of the Legislative Budget Review and Minority Affairs Committee. Jacobs has also worked toward the fiscal stability of Nassau County by pressing for an independent oversight panel to monitor the county's finances. She has fought for the reduction of unjustifiable perks to county employees, demanded a balanced and real budget, and helped create the first ever four-year financial plan for the county, leading the way to a sound fiscal future. She has also devoted her efforts to increase efficiency in government services and eliminate waste.

Jacobs has worked tirelessly for land preservation, traffic signaling, roadway safety measures and environmental protection. She has been active in the fight against breast cancer by bringing the county's Mobile Mammography Van into the district at various times throughout the year. She has served as a civic leader of Syosset Homeowners Against Pollution of the Environment and Residents Against Garbage Expansion, which successfully closed the Old Bethpage landfill.

Jacobs also co-manages a family-owned real estate management company. A former schoolteacher, Jacobs holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Hunter College, where she also did graduate work. She and her husband, Sid, reside in Woodbury. They are the proud parents of three grown children-Jackie, Lenny and Lindaand have four grandchildren-Aimee, Matthew, Sara and Danielle.
