Marines to recall DHB armored vests

The Marine Corps is recalling 5,277 DHB Corp. armored vests after a Marine Times story noted that they were issued to troops after waivers exempted the vests from minimum specifications.

The vests were issued to troops in Iraq, Afghanistan and Dijbouti, according to the Associated Press.

The vests were manufactured by DHB subsidiary Point Blank Body Armor of Pompano Beach, Fla., which issued a statement saying it stands behind the product.

We categorically stand behind the quality and effectiveness of Interceptor OTVs manufactured by Point Blank, said Larry Ellis, president of DHB Industries and a retired Army general.
