Jeffrey Vanderbeek is poised to become the new principal owner and chairman of the three-time Stanley Cup winning New Jersey Devils hockey team. Vanderbeek is giving up a 20-year career with Lehman Brothers, where he heads riskmanagement operations, to run the Devils in the wake of the YankeeNets

breakup. Investor group Puck Holdings bought the team for $175 million in 2000. The amount that Vanderbeek, a minority owner since 2002, has offered to pay has not been disclosed. Vanderbeek's resignation from the investment banking firm will be effective as of June 15. He serves in Lehman's office of the chairman and as a member of the executive committee.
