Algiers Charter School Assn. now to run 8 Recovery District schools

The Algiers Charter School Association announced it will open two more schools in the fall, bringing the total number of schools it runs to eight.The state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education granted ACSA charters to run the Harriet Tubman and McDonogh No. 32 elementary schools under the

state Education Department's Recovery School District.ACSA now operates six New Orleans Public schools on the West Bank. It will open Tubman on Aug. 7 and McDonogh in September.School officials do not have an exact date for McDonogh because repairs still need to be done. McDonogh students will have an extended school day to make up the time lost at the beginning of the year.We're very excited to add these schools to our family, said Brian Riedlinger, CEO of ACSA.
