IEM Inc. signs contract with Homeland Security/FEMA to develop hurricane disaster plan

IEM Inc. signed a contract worth more than $500,000 with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Agency to lead the state's development of a catastrophic hurricane disaster plan. IEM, founded in 1985, is a Baton-Rouge based emergency management and homeland security

consultant. Wayne Thomas, IEM director of homeland security, said developing a hurricane disaster plan is urgent due to the beginning of the 2004 hurricane season, which runs through November. National weather experts predict an above normal Atlantic hurricane season with six to eight hurricanes, including three major storms.
