Tulane University president to give update on university's rebuilding efforts at NYU

Tulane University President Scott Cowen will present an

update on the university's efforts to rebuild its campus since Hurricane Katrina at a special program Saturday at New York University.Cowen will address Tulane alumni, students and faculty at 10 a.m. at NYU's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts in the Kimmel Center for University Life. Audio of the program will be streamed live on the Internet at www.tulane.edu. Thousands of Tulane University alumni live in New York and several hundred Tulane students are attending colleges and universities in the area. The program will provide an overview of the progress the university has made and the effect Hurricane Katrina has had on Tulane. The university established the Tulane Hurricane Rebuilding Fund to help stem losses from the storm. Due to conditions in New Orleans, the university was forced to cancel its fall semester, sending thousands of students to colleges and universities across the country.Tulane plans to begin its spring semester Jan. 17.
