Ball aids comet analysis.

Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp., Boulder, in association with the University of Maryland and the California Institute of Technology's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, is developing and integrating the first spacecraft and instrumentation for analyzing the interior of a comet. The spacecraft

dubbed "Impactor" is designed to be vaporized upon impact with its target, the comet, Tempel 1. This is first NASA mission to ever attempt impact with a comet nucleus in an effort to probe beneath its surface.
