Nutro Products Inc. to Locate Manufacturing and Distribution Facility in Victorville
Nutro Products Inc. has finally announced its intention to locate a manufacturing and distribution facility in the city of Victorville. Company representatives indicated that they would construct the building in the Foxborough Industrial Park. Initially, the structure will be 360,000 square feet in size; however, there will be room for expansion should that be required at some time in the future.
Nutro will begin construction of the facility in September of 2003 and occupancy is scheduled for summer of 2005. Company officials expect that upon completion some 200 manufacturing and distribution type jobs will be available to local residents.
Nutro officials estimate that first year investment will exceed $44 million. This figure includes the estimated cost of property, construction of the facility, and salaries.
The Inland Empire Economic Partnership (IEEP) provided a number of beneficial services for Nutro as part of the attraction of this business to the region. At the forefront of those services was assistance in the siting of the company, along with Deloitte and Touche, a site selector, in its location in the city of Victorville. Additionally, the IEEP conducted site tours of the region and provided salary and labor information to the site selector.
Teri Ooms, president and chief executive officer of the IEEP, indicated that working with site selectors, particularly those as renowned as Deloitte & Touche, was further indication that the region had taken a national prominence. "When a firm like Deloitte & Touche works with clients to locate them here in the Inland Empire, it is further recognition that the region is recognized as a growing and significant Southern California player that has come into its own," Ooms commented.
