The Getty Research Institute has put together an exhibition that explores the gamut of instruments and visual technologies that have been placed before our eyes to explore the world., "Devices of Wonder: From the World in a Box to Images on a Screen" runs Nov. 13 to Feb. 3. The display includes

more than 400 objects from the 17th century to the present, from historical prints and early cameras to works by modern and contemporary artists such as Alexander Calder, Marcel Duchamp and Jeff Wall. Information: (310) 440-7300 or www.getty.edu.
