Anchorage's Mercedez-Benz dealership is now part of the Worthington family of car dealerships, made famous by Cal Worthington and his various dogs, all named Spot. The name of the company will remain the Mercedez-Benz of Anchorage.

Co-owners Rich Thorpe, who was the operating partner,

and John Mills sold the local dealership. Worthington officials said they plan to boost advertising and the number of cars available on the Anchorage lot.

"The Worthington Auto Group is not a stranger to luxury imports," said Calvin Worthington, president. "It's the largest purchaser of BMW and Mercedez-Benz in the world. We're ready to break out."
