Must Read Publisher – and all their books!

I’m in San Francisco this week and just had the amazing and humbling experience of sitting in a room full of authors dedicated to changing not only how we all do business in the world, but how we impact the world on the highest level in our intentionality toward building community.

Berrett-Koehler publishers are an exception to every story you’ve ever heard about how publishers work and their roster of outstanding authors reveals that immediately. All of the authors listed below have been or are currently part of their amazing publishing family.

I’m going to be featuring in the upcoming weeks posts on the BK stable of books and I urge you to check them out and add them to your Must Read library.

For now here’s some to start you out with – some are brand new and some are timeless. Timeless in the sense of a Jim Collins “Good to Great” book – meaning whenever you pick it up -no matter when it was published, it applies!

Lessons from the Hive: The Buzz on Surviving the Ever-Changing WorkPlace – by Charles Decker – fantastic book on how to adeptly navigate the changing landscape of the workplace. In this brilliant reimagining of the business-fable genre, bestselling author Charles Decker presents immediately engaging characters undergoing the throes of organizational change.

Beverly has been doing this for over 25 years now and has worked with leading companies from all sectors.

Nelson – Gary spoke at the event yesterday and when we’re all talking about building communities in terms of Web 2.0 etc., he is one of the leading forefathers in what real communities do, how to excel at incorporating them in your business structure and why they will change the world.

A Game as Old As Empire – edited by Steven Hiatt, introduction by John Perkins who is also the author of the best-selling “Confessions of an Economic Hit Man”. Both these books are must reads.

And if these books aren’t exciting enough for you – then check out Bill Treasurer’s “Right Risk: Ten Principles for Taking Giant Leaps with Your Life”. Also, look for an upcoming feature on another author in attendance at the panel – Bill Treasurer.
