DMI International Incorporated

At a customer's request, DMI International recently designed and built a 120-inch diameter, line traveling, air operated internal lineup clamp for use in manufacturing operations. Patterned after DMI's 60-inch internal lineup clamps used in pipeline construction operations,

the unit is now fully operational. The completed clamp weighs approximately 26,000 pounds, measures 184 inches long and is supported by four 12-inch diameter neoprene wheels mounted at the bottom of the frame. All 12 wheels are electrically adjusted to fit various pipe diameters. To date, DMI officials say the clamp has surpassed customer expectations and improved productivity.

International Pipeline Products Ltd.

International Pipeline Products Ltd. (iNPIPE Products) has introduced a new range of multi-schedule pipe joint testers that eliminate weld seal extrusion. Developers say this was accomplished by utilizing a unique polyurethane composite seal encasing an anti-extrusion member. This member still allows the seal to expand and contract easily on diameter but prevents longitudinal extrusion of the seal under pressure. Use can reduce, from at least six to only two, the number of testers needed to test an entire range of pipe schedule, while catering for variations in diameter and excessive weld penetration.
