McDermott s derrick/lay barge DB 50 is shown installing a 3A50-ton deck tot the Williams Canyon Station production platform on East Main Pass Block 261 in 299 feet of water offshore Alabama. Houston-based Paragon's scope of work for the Williams project included project management, engineering

design/drafting, procurement and fabrication inspection for the four-pile, four-legged platform, which completed hook-up and commissioning on schedule in late June. The jacket installation was completed in October 2001, and the deck was installed in late May 2002. Hickman Brown. Paragon's project manager, says the cycle time on the fast track project--from Paragon's contract award to platform installation--totaled 18.5 months.

"This successful effort is due to the extraordinary cooperation and coordination between Williams, Paragon, Canyon Express producers and all the associated fabricators and suppliers," said Brown.

Canyon Express Pipeline, a closed-loop 12 3/4-inch diameter pipeline, will gather production from the deepwater wells and transport it to the Canyon Station host platform.

Paragon's engineering effort on the project included the topsides design far compression and separation facilities; methanol storage, injection and recovery; water treatment; and instrumentation and utilities. Paragon also worked closely with Canyon Express and its suppliers for interface of the power and control systems from the deepwater umbilical bun die to the platform's Master Control Station for the subsea wells.
