Description: Works to preserve Antarctica by monitoring all activities to ensure minimal environmental impact, and consulting with key users of Antarctica, including scientists, tourists, governments. Conducts legal and policy research and analysis; produces educational materials; focuses international and scientific community on globally significant research. Serves as secretariat to Antarctic and Southern Ocean Coalition, composed of 214 conservation groups in 44 nations.
