Tribes Human Services Department today announced a four day training event addressing the growing health problem of prescription pain medication addiction.

Dr. Grinstead's Addiction-Free Pain Management (APM) system is a treatment approach that uses the Gorski-CENAPS(R) Relapse Prevention model to integrate the most advanced pain management methods, with the most effective research-based treatment methods for addictive disorders leading to relief of pain while lowering or eliminating the risk of addiction or relapse.



What:   Addiction Free Pain Management Certification Training -- A
        three day skills training on implementing an effective program
        of treatment for people suffering from addiction to pain
        medication (October 27-29, 2003 closed to the public).

        Managing Pain and Co-Existing Addictive Disorders -- A one day
        overview where participants learn identification and
        management strategies to help overcome the numerous obstacles
        to successful treatment for clients with chronic pain and
        coexisting addictive disorders (open to the public).

When:   October 30, 2003, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

Where:  Port Angeles City Hall, Port Angeles, Washington

Who:    For nearly two decades Dr. Grinstead has specialized in
        training and consultation for addiction and coexisting chronic
        pain, personality and mental health problems. He is an author
        and nationally recognized expert on prescription pain
        medication addiction (www.addiction-free.com) and is a Senior
        Trainer with Terence T. Gorski's CENAPS(R) Corporation. Dr.
        Grinstead has a Doctorate in Addictive Disorders and a private
        practice in Sacramento, CA. He is currently on the faculty at
        the University of California at Santa Cruz.
