Children's Pavilion to Showcase Local Talent

and Health Education Activities

AMERIGROUP Maryland, Inc. will showcase local youth talent in the AMERIGROUP Children's Pavilion at the 2000

Black Family Reunion Celebration on Sept. 9 and 10. The Pavilion will be located at 15th & Constitution Avenue and will be open from noon - 6:00 p.m.

AMERIGROUP has teamed up with the D.C. Department of Recreation to program an entertaining and health education-focused, interactive Pavilion for children and their parents.

Scheduled performers include Young Extreme Steppers (Washington metropolitan area); Children of Mime African Dancers (Southeast, D.C.); St. Paul Baptist Church's Praises of Joy Dance Ministry (Capital Heights, Md.); Black Belt University's Martial Arts Group (Forrestville, Md.); and District Heights Elementary School Step Team (District Heights, Md.)

In addition, the Pavilion will offer education on health and safety topics including drug awareness by McGruff the Crime Dog and the D.C. Metropolitan Police; seat belt and bicycle safety by Vince and Lenny, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Crash Dummies; and lead poison and asthma management from AMERIGROUP's health promotion professionals.
