Sweat365 Unveils a New Online Social Network TargetedToward Everyday Athletes.

Seattle-Based Company Provides a Fresh and Inspirational Approach to Exercise and Athletic Training

SEATTLE -- In conjunction with the new year, Sweat365, a new social network for everyday athletes, today announced the official launch of its online fitness community. Founded by Brad Hefta-Gaub,

a former executive with RealNetworks and Revenue Science, and Phil Sabin, formerly with Revenue Science and Amazon.com, Sweat365 provides a state-of-the-art blogging platform with integrated fitness tracking tools, training information, training plans, race and event calendars and community forums.

"Phil and I created this community as a practical, easy-to-use tool to help people achieve their fitness goals," said Hefta-Gaub, Sweat365 chairman and CEO. "Historically, at the beginning of the new year millions of people resolve to lose weight and get in shape, only to discover that keeping this commitment seems to get harder over time. As two former couch potatoes, now devoted to being healthy and fit, we decided to create an innovative environment that helps motivate and inspire people to change their lives for the better, through the support and encouragement of their peers."

A Commitment to Helping Everyday Athletes

Sweat365 allows everyday athletes to learn from and inspire each other as they work toward their individual fitness goals. Membership in the community is free and provides personal blogs that give users a chance to discuss their training experiences and accomplishments. The Web site allows members to track their workouts with patent-pending personal publishing tools and provides graphical feedback on their fitness progress.

"Tracking your progress is one of the easiest and most powerful ways to stay focused on achieving your goals," said Sabin, co-founder and CFO. "Our members provide accountability and motivation to each other, as well as work as a community toward achieving life-long fitness."

"Sweat365 was the motivation I needed when I embarked on a brand new fitness challenge," said Steve Hooper, Sweat365 member and partner at Ignition Partners. "The training tools on the Web site are easy to use and insightful, and the members are tremendously encouraging. Publicly declaring my fitness goals helps me stay accountable to my training schedule. Since joining Sweat365, I have trained for and completed my first half marathon and I have now set my sights on completing a full marathon. This has truly been a life-changing tool."

Spending on Fitness Hits Record Level

According to a recent study by Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, in 1999, Americans were spending more than $30 billion on diet and fitness programs annually. This number has since increased to an estimated $60 billion annual expenditure. Clearly there is a tremendous demand in America, as well as throughout the world, for long-term fitness solutions that work. These statistics reinforced Hefta-Gaub and Sabin's confidence that there was an obvious need for their solution and inspired them to enter into this growing market.

Dieting Alone Doesn't Work

With more than one-third of the U.S. adult population considered obese and almost two-thirds considered overweight, there is growing awareness of the health and longevity benefits of an active lifestyle.

Hefta-Gaub, who at one point had more than 36 percent body fat on his five-foot four-inch frame, faced the onset of ill health and disease until he committed to lose weight and get in shape. He realized, however, that dieting alone would not help him achieve his fitness goals. Now a marathon runner and Ironman triathlete, Hefta-Gaub created the Sweat365 online community to encourage others to gain control of their health and take on challenges that they previously thought unattainable.
