for wireless Internet applications, will showcase its WHITEboard(TM) Software Development Kit (SDK) Bluetooth(TM) Edition at CTIA Wireless I.T. 2000 in Santa Clara, October 16 to 18. Zucotto's exhibit will include demonstrations of wireless Java applications designed on the WHITEboard platform, including MPEG-4 multimedia developed in partnership with PacketVideo, and interactive gaming.

The WHITEboard SDK Bluetooth Edition accelerates the development of next-generation wireless applications and devices based on Sun Microsystems Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME(TM)) technology. It is the first wireless Java development kit to incorporate Bluetooth personal area networking.

"Java and Bluetooth technology-enabled devices represent the future of wireless communications," said Mark Wells, President and CEO of Zucotto Wireless(TM). "By providing developers with the tools they need to design and test applications for these devices before the hardware is actually available, Zucotto's WHITEboard SDK will shorten time to market and lower development costs."

The WHITEboard SDK provides a platform and tools for the rapid, robust development of applications for wireless devices such as cellular phones, pagers, and personal digital assistants. The kit supports the J2ME Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) and Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP). It also provides an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) that is based on the Sun Forte(TM) IDE but optimized for J2ME development. The Bluetooth Edition comes complete with two Zucotto Bluetooth Communications Boards with Bluetooth Radio, Baseband and Antenna; a Bluetooth Software Stack; and Java Bluetooth API.
