NEWPORT, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 7, 2002

Handheld PC software enables law enforcement, first responders and

military to effectively assess potential threats and reduce risk

LiveWave, Inc. (http://livewave.tv), the leading developer of digital video and camera control systems for security and broadcast applications, today announced the Mobile FirstView(TM) wireless camera control and video monitoring software module for handheld PCs that supports their line of turn-key encoder/server video surveillance and broadcast systems (CC-100, CNG(TM) -200 and VirtualPerimeter(TM) series).

Based on any handheld PC running Microsoft Windows CE or PocketPC2002, FirstView enables law enforcement, military personnel and first responders to remotely control robotic cameras and view high quality video in real-time. This capability allows authorized personnel across multiple agencies and jurisdictions to readily monitor, evaluate and communicate with greater flexibility and ensure timely response in the event of a suspicious incident or crisis.

FirstView supports LiveWave's CC-100 and CNG-200 series systems and VirtualPerimeter video security solutions, and is compatible with various wireless networking technologies, such as 802.11b, 802.11a, CDMA, 2.5G and 3G networks. LiveWave's turn-key encoder/server systems can be used to control and manage professional CCTV, industrial or broadcast cameras from most top manufacturers and can distribute multiple broadcast or broadband streaming video formats at various resolutions and frame rates. LiveWave systems offer high quality and low latency video with variable speed P/T/Z controls, hierarchical user management and legacy infrastructure support.

"FirstView is a compelling tool for first responders that goes beyond the "gee wiz" factor and provides an effective asset that can reduce risks when entering unknown or threatening environments," said Peter Mottur, CEO of LiveWave, Inc. "Whether it's an officer entering a dark subway tunnel, or a field soldier in combat, knowing what you're up against can be mission critical.
