Top Executive at Qwest Keeps Company's Focus on Future.

Jul. 6--Jessica Maxwell snagged a seat at the front of the conference room, hoping for a good view of her company's top boss at a May employee rally.
As about 300 other employees of Qwest Communications International filed into the room at the company's Portland offices, a man grabbed a seat next to her and began chatting. The middle-aged man, wearing a Qwest "Team Oregon" T-shirt, congenially asked her how things were going.
