British Television Executive Seeks to Launch Bid for Cinema Chain.

May 23--Michael Green, the Carlton television founder ousted by shareholders before the company merged with Granada, has approached financier Guy Hands seeking to launch a knock-out bid for UCI Cinemas.

As part of the deal, Green will also try to buy Carlton Screen Advertising, the cinema advertising arm of ITV plc and formerly part of his Carlton empire. He would merge it with SMG's screen advertising division Pearl & Dean, which he also wants to buy.
