Veteran journalist Jacquelyn Mitchard kept pursuing her dream to become a novelist, even after the death of her husband when she was faced with raising four children on her own. Against the advice of her friends, Mitchard, 43, decided to write a novel instead of settling for a secure job. She sold her book 'The Deep End of the Ocean' for $500,000, besides being offered the movie rights to the book and the rights to her life story for another movie.

A top-notch journalist, happily married with four children, finds herself a single mother when her husband suddenly dies of cancer.
