When Jan Ozer's contribution to this issue of EventDV, "Traveling Light," came in at novella length, I'd have certainly cut him short if the article hadn't turned out to be a veritable manifesto for achieving pro-level lighting illusions on an airtight budget. Of course, the effects you achieve with shop lights and hardware-store diffusion kits will look better on tape than the low-end gear may look to your client when you unpack it on site, but Ozer gets to that perception issue too--all I can say is read on.
