Investor Stephen C. Swid is about to try his hand at music licensing. Swid and his partners have purchased the Nashville licensing firm SESAC, which accounts for just 3% of market. Swid hopes to increase this share by offering Hispanic broadcasters music format-specific license fees. The latter have long lamented the traditional blanket fee arrangement, which covers the licensor's entire catalog. It is still uncertain whether the SESAC service will be blanket niche or niche per-program.
