EXPANDING MARKETS FOR ANIMATION : Cartoons hit the big time.

The last decade has seen an unprecedented expansion in film and television animation production. A revival of animated feature film production--led by the Walt Disney Company in the USA--has been matched by strong growth in home video.

Production of television animation has increased exponentially with the development of national industries elsewhere--notably Canada and France. The market for animation has also expanded, with an increase in broadcasting hours stemming from mounting competition and the spread of cable and satellite TV.

However, it is open to
