Recent announcements by Warner and Technicolor have confirmed the rapid approach of the the end of the VHS era, at least in the world's more mature markets. The studio is to cease VHS production for all titles (new release and catalogue, rental and retail) in the US from 1 March 2006, whilst Technicolor is to close its VHS plant in Wembley, London in April with the loss of over 100 jobs.
