Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA), the industry organisation behind the high definition (HD) optical disk format, has selected both Microsoft's VC-1 and the MPEG-4 AVC High Profile advanced video compression codecs as mandatory codecs for the Blu-ray Disc ROM (BD-ROM) specification.
