Macrovision's DVD Copy Protection High on Roadshow's Agenda; Leading Entertainment Company Signs...

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--July 31, 2001

Macrovision Corp., (Nasdaq:MVSN), the world leader in video and software copy protection and digital rights management (DRM) technologies, announced today that Roadshow Home Entertainment, has signed

a three-year agreement to copy protect 100% of their DVDs. Roadshow Home Entertainment is a major movie producer and distributor and operates one of the world's leading cinema exhibition circuits.

Roslyn Wilson, General Manager of Roadshow Entertainment said, "With the advent of DVD and the proliferation of home recording equipment, it has become increasingly important to protect our titles from unauthorized copying. Macrovision's technology helps Roadshow, as well as retailers who have made investments in rental and sell-through DVDs, obtain returns on investment."

Tom Carroux, Director of Sales at Macrovision added, "DVD's high quality is an attractive format to copy. A VHS copy of a DVD is comparable in quality to an original VHS tape distributed in retail stores. Macrovision's technology helps Roadshow offer movies on DVD without jeopardizing their VHS home video revenue."
