Leonardo Chiariglione has accepted the executive director's position of the Secure Digital Music Initiative (SDMI). SDMI's purpose is to create specifications for Web audio downloads that let music companies track and profit from this activity. Leonardo Chiariglione, a founder of Motion Picture Experts Group (MPEG), helped develop the original MP3 specification for audio/video compression.
