Maitland Primrose Group, Publishers of Moving Pictures Magazine, Creates New Theatrical and DVD Label in Conjunction with KIDS FIRST!

The new theatrical and DVD label will be part of the Maitland Primrose Film Distribution (MPFD) arm. Films released under the new label will be branded as "KIDS FIRST! Presents" or "KIDS FIRST! Moving Pictures Presents." KIDS FIRST! (www.kidsfirst.org) is known as a "Good Housekeeping" type seal of approval for parents to evaluate media based upon a rating system based on age groups.
The new label from Maitland Primrose Film Distribution will acquire films on its own and independently of KIDS FIRST! KIDS FIRST! will recommend films that have been endorsed by them or accepted for their film festival.
KIDS FIRST! evaluates, rates and endorses children's feature films, DVDs, videos, audio CDs and television programs using volunteer, community-based juries comprising child development professionals, teachers, policy makers, parents as well as children from diverse geographic, socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds. Moving Pictures Magazine, which is owned and operated by Maitland Primrose Group, will review many of these new titles throughout the year.
The KIDS FIRST! Film Festival travels throughout the year and partners with more than 100 different venues throughout the United States that host the actual film screenings. Having presence at established film festivals, non-profit film centers, libraries, schools as well as art and children's museums allows individuals to experience and view new and classic children's films, TV shows and DVDs from studios, independent producers and youth producers worldwide. A KIDS FIRST! endorsement is given to titles that meet the KIDS FIRST! baseline criteria and are approved by a panel of both children and adults.
Maitland Primrose Group's experience within film festivals worldwide will help garner coverage and distribution for all different styles of media geared towards the youth market. Maitland Primrose Film Distribution is currently releasing the first KIDS FIRST! Theatrical Presentation, "The Tillamook Treasure" (www.tillamooktreasure.com), which will next play at Harkins' Superstition in Mesa, Arizona, on September 28, 2007. The film was a huge success at the KIDS FIRST! Festivals around the country and features Brian McNamara of Lifetime TV show Army Wives. The film tells the story of teenage sleuth Julie Kimbell, who searches for a legendary treasure buried in the mountains of Tillamook, Oregon.
Later this year, Maitland Primrose will be introducing the KIDS FIRST! Saturday Matinee at select theatres across the country. The idea is to have one Saturday a month at a local theatre in various communities that will screen short films and features to help create awareness of upcoming theatricals and DVD releases.
