Journalists should not be non-thinking gatherers and distributors of news who believe in a model of objectivity that prevents them from thinking about stories they cover and the impact a story may have on a culture. Journalism schools, newspapers and other news agencies should value a journalist's thoughtful interaction with stories. Emphasizing process over substance may ultimately create journalists who abuse their power because they are unaware of it.
