"We believe this to be the largest library of interviews with rock stars ever compiled," Brzeski said. "Some of these interviews and programs offer incredible insight into the music but have never been broadcast. This will be the first time they will be heard by the public."
Brzeski made the announcement at Webnoize '99, a three-day event addressing key issues in the music industry. Sponsored by Digital Music Network Inc., the meeting is being held at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.
Brzeski said STV, based in Santa Monica, Calif., will encode and host the interviews and programs for streaming over the Internet. "This library will be syndicated to Internet sites that sell music or provide music content," Brzeski explained. "This new programming should dramatically increase the impact of a visitor's experience and propensity to make online purchases while at the Web sites."
Among the artists represented in the library of interviews and programs are the Byrds, the Beatles, the Moody Blues, Fleetwood Mac, the Rolling Stones and the Who.
The interviews have been assembled over two decades by Denny Somach, one of the foremost rock music historians and producers. Somach expects the partnership between STV and Denny Somach Productions "will revolutionize the way people feed their passion for music and add a previously unavailable depth to their Web experience."
Added Brzeski: "We're looking forward to this venture, and we hope to sign more deals like this as soon as possible. There's so much great content out there, collecting dust in storage, and so many people who are avidly seeking that content.
